As a busy mum of two kids, managing your time effectively can be a real challenge. Here are some tips for scheduling your life, work, and home duties to help you stay organised and on track:

  1. Prioritise: Make a list of all your tasks and responsibilities, then prioritise them in order of importance. Tackle the most important tasks first, and leave the less important tasks for later.
  2. Create a schedule: Plan out your daily schedule in advance, including time for work, taking care of the kids, running errands, and household tasks. Be sure to include time for yourself as well, whether it’s for exercise, reading, or simply relaxing.
  3. Use a calendar: Keep track of appointments, meetings, and other events on a calendar. This will help you stay on top of your schedule and avoid overbooking yourself.
  4. Place your family calendar in a high-traffic area of your house so everyone can see it and refer to it.
  5. Delegate: Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Whether it’s hiring a babysitter or asking your partner to take on more responsibilities, delegating tasks can free up your time for other things.
  6. Be flexible: Life is unpredictable, and things may not always go to plan. Be prepared to adjust your schedule as needed, and don’t get too caught up in trying to stick to a strict routine.
  7. Use time-saving tools and apps: There are many apps and tools available that can help you stay organised and manage your time more effectively. Some popular ones include Google Keep,  Postit notes, Todoist, Trello, and RescueTime.
  8. Prioritise your mental and physical health: It’s important to take care of yourself in order to be able to take care of others. Make sure to schedule time for self-care activities such as meditation, yoga, or exercise, and try to get adequate sleep and a healthy diet.
  9. Learn to say no: You can’t do everything, it’s important to learn to say no to things that are not a priority or that you don’t have time for.

By following these tips and finding the strategies that work best for you, you can become a pro at balancing your responsibilities as a working mum.

Time management is not about squeezing more into your day. It’s about creating a schedule that allows you to achieve your goals and make time for the things that matter most. And don’t forget to reward yourself for a job well done!

Do you give yourself incentives and rewards for achieving goals? It doesn’t have to be big, it may even be an unexpected cup of coffee, walk, or sneaky choc. One of the secrets to being productive is to incentivise and reward. Set yourself goals for accomplishing things, and reward yourself for attaining those goals.

Suddenly, being productive can be FUN! I want to leave you with, a mantra: Make Things Fun! Get Things Done
